What:

This is a detailed proposal for an annual drawing competition in Africa.

Who:

Mozambican undergraduate university students in Mozambique currently enrolled in a university in Mozambique.  All eligible students welcome to apply, no matter what major or course of study.

Where:

As many locations and provinces within Mozambique as possible.  Maputo, Nampula, Inhambane, Gorongosa, Villanculos, Pemba.

Prizes:

1st place $500USD

2nd place $250USD

3rd place $100USD

runner-up (5 places) $50USD

Winning entries will be exhibited online, and may be featured in an exhibition, location to be announced.

Jury:

Winning entries to be determined by a panel of judges.  Names of judges to be announced soon.

When:

To be implemented in third quarter, 2012.

Why:

To support arts education.  To encourage engagement in and deepening commitment to the visual arts.  To exhibit creativity, to foster and nurture young creative talent.  To show that the arts, in general, is a viable and rewarding career path.  To increase visibility of the field of fine art in Mozambique.  To give emerging artists national and international exposure.

Details:

Proof of university registration, proper ID, etc needed.  Drawings should be pen or pencil or colored drawing materials on paper, any size.  Any subject matter or style will be considered (ie cartoon, portraiture or landscape, realism, abstraction, social commentary). 

In order to enter, email us a high resolution, high quality picture of your work, along with your details (name, age, address, phone, email, university, course of study), and the details of the work itself (dimensions, materials, date, title)will be asked to write about their work, and send a short bio of themselves.  Incomplete entries will not be considered.  Portuguese.
